Grinding affinity charts gave you incentive to get to know each rare blade, get to use it, and maybe build a team around it for a short period. I feel like maybe you didn't get very far? The gacha system gave you constant new blades to experiment with. Just look up a tutorial so you actually understand how to play the game But just know if you havent played it yet, definitely do! It's an amazing game with loads of content and probably my favorite game on switch other than botw. There are just so many nuances like this that the game either explains terribly or not at all. Also, I had no clue affinity was the golden line between driver and blade until I was looking through posts in the xenoblade sub and someone referenced it. I accidentally got all 4 during one boss with a lot of health, but I had no clue how to make it happen until I was casually watching someone fight the final boss weeks after I beat the game. Other notable things are that I didnt know elemental combos (or whatever they're called) put more bubbles for chain attacks. Literally his first episode was enough to help me with a boss fight 3/4 of the way through the game. I watched the first episode of chuggaconroy let's play and I learned that pouch items existed and how to stutter step. I was at a major boss fight in chapter 7 and couldnt get past it.
